Since the modification introduced by Spanish Law 15/2015, of 2 July, on the Voluntary Jurisdiction, there is the possibility of conducting the separation or divorce of a couple by mutual agreement before a Notary Public, functions that corresponded to Judges until then.
Notarial separations or divorces are a faster and cheaper process, and it is worth remembering that in order to conduct this notarial procedure, the main requirement is that the separation or divorce be by mutual agreement without minor children.
